Washington Mortgage Planner-straight up mortgage advice and commentary

Wow! Did we get hit!

Good morning! It seems like the whole nation is under the weather. That's definitely true up here. We live in the foothills of the Cascade mountains in Washington State and we had a snow and windstorm to remember. I'm surprised our power is back on; usually it takes a day or so when we have a storm of this magnitude.

It definitely looks like we'll have a white Christmas this year. Personally I love it as I grew up in Eastern Washington where the weather can be severe. For all of the native Western Washingtonians, they're not used to it. But they seem to be enjoying it nonetheless. I say if you're going to have a storm, have one around the holidays. Although we've barely started our Christmas shopping (we're lucky in that we don't have that many people to buy for), I don't feel as stressed as in years past. We've missed quite a few parties because of the weather and it's nice to not feel the need to go into work every day.

What's the weather like in your neck of the woods? I was talking on Skype with a friend of mine in Antigua the other day. He and his wife are educators and took a position at a school down there. He said that it was in the 70's. At first I thought you lucky dog! Then I thought I grew up with 4 seasons and that's really what I prefer. Send me a comment with your holiday plans, weather, etc. I'd like to hear from you! Happy Sunday!

I'm in seacoast NH and we are getting hit with a blizzard today. Heavy snow and just a week after a killer ice storm that has left hundreds of thousands of people with out power. Little change of getting it back before the first of the year. It's plain to see we are not in control......someone else is. count your blessings daily! Patricia Aulson/Hampton NH Real Estate

We waited for our son to fly in from New York last night.  His flight was delayed for several hours.  The plane sat on the runway while it snowed, and was de-iced several times.  Wow  Coast - to coast.  I hate this global warming stuff.

In New York, it's been snowing for the last 2 days. Hopefully, my clients will all plow themselve out or we'll have to put on the big tennis racket snow shoes.

Sunny and in the 50's but expecting some rain. A little white stuff visable for a short time last week at the top of Mt. Diablo.

We are in jeans, and Uggs and Christmas sweaters. No coat required.

Expecting rain later in the week, but hopefully clear for the Emerald Bowl next Sat. We have tickets!!!!

Janet: Lucky you! You may not get much snow that way. I know where Mt. Diable is. My grandparents used to live on Mt. Tamalpais, the other tallest mountain! Take care.

I have a new set of snowshoes and may use them today. It's exciting!

Jim: That's funny! It makes you wonder, huh? Did your son make it? I assume so. Take care.

Patricia: Thank you. I usually do remember to be thankful. It definitely helps. Have an awesome Sunday!

Debe: You probably don't get a lot of white Christmases. We usually don't either but this year it looks like we will! I'm excited.

Toula: I'm afraid I'm not that technically savvy. Maybe in 2009! You just have to imagine a winter wonderland with snow laden trees. It really is beautiful!

Brunswick and the Golden Isles of Georgia......temperature in the high 70's most days so you can still walk the beach and enjoy our beautiful waterways....you see boats everywhere.....

Julie: Thank you. Do you miss other kinds of weather or are you content with your always warm days? Just curious.

Tony: That is cold! I was telling my wife that what we have is nothing compared to the Midwest. Stay warm!

I have lived in states where we did have white Christmases but NC isn't one of them.  It is cold this week for us...got down to 18 degrees but the storms are bringing rain, not snow.  I'll bet it is beautiful there!  Merry Christmas!

Diane: It is beautiful! It's not supposed to last unfortunately. But the walks in to our house from the road with groceries or packages makes me realize how simple things can get sometimes!

Bo: Thanks for your kind wishes. I wish you the same!
